Clark Fork Track Meet

It was the Clark Fork elementary track meet.  We had an unusually nice day (usually it is raining) and Maren was able to compete in the 100m and the standing long jump.  4th place in the 100m and 2nd place in the long jump!

Even better - a good way to get out of a day of school.

Caribou Lake

On Memorial Day we decided to have a little adventure.  We wanted to hike to Caribou Lake.  With little snow last winter, there was a good chance that the trail was clearer than normal for this time of year.  We didn't see any snow and almost made it to the lake.  Unfortunately, Caribou creek was too full to cross and we had to turn around.  Still - a fun adventure.

We couldn't rock hop the creek and were just about to brave wading through the snow melt water when it started to downpour.  The rain made our decision for us and we turned around and opted to visit the lake another time. I think we were pretty close.

Here the girls are waiting out the rain under cover of the trees.

Lunch at the trail head.  We would have preferred the lake, but it wasn't meant to be.

On the way home we must have hit an unusually sharp rock - and got a flat tire.  It was the perfect time to give Hannah her first lesson in changing a tire.  I am grateful for a diligent husband who regularly checks the air pressure on my spare.

State 4a Championships

Hannah headed to Boise last weekend to compete in the Idaho State Track & Field meet.  She earned a spot on the state team as a freshman with her time in the 800m at regionals - a personal record of 2:22.53.  She has been working hard all season and it has really paid off.

5th place in the 800m - Way to go Hannah!!

Track and Field

Both Hannah and Paige are just finishing up their track season.  Paige ran for the first time this year in middle school.  She tried just about everything... high jump, hurdles, 100m, 4x100m relay and 1600m.  A great year to see what she likes.

Hannah started her first season of high school track.  With her first season of cross country under her belt, she opted for the longer track distances.  But not too long because '8 times around a track is just way too boring Mom'.  So no 3200m for her.  She ran some relay and the 1600m, but she really began to shine when she started running the 800.  In fact, she qualified for state yesterday with a second place finish in regionals.  She will be competing in Boise next week in the 800m. Way to go Hannah!  Quite an accomplishment for a freshman.

It was a special treat to qualify for the Pasco Invite.  Not only because it is an invitation-only meet, but also because three of her Washington cousins were also competing.  What a treat to spend the day with family at the track meet!
